This is a real ‘wee gem’. Travel down Strathnairn for 8 miles on the Fort Augustus road (B851) clearly marked from the main A9 just south of Inverness.

Another most enjoyable overnight stay in the company of the resident proprietors Mary and David Allen.

Formerly a farm steading circa 1860 it is now an extremely well restored and refurbished property. Care has been taken with the 8 en suite bedrooms – all refurbished to a high standard with extra touches.

2 bedroom ‘cottages’ attached to the hotel itself offer a slightly different option with access to the garden or the gazebo if you want a smoke!

Gardens and surrounds are immaculate and the large conservatory/lounge with newly installed
'log-burning fire' instills a sense of peace and contentment.

Good wholesome cooking here (generous portions I should add) and a real cracking prawn cocktail not seen on many menus these days. Service first class and a real friendly ambience prevails throughout.

Game shooting/loch/river/sea fishing available locally.

David & Mary extend a real warm welcome to all their guests and its really a ‘home from home’ atmosphere.

Culloden battlefield just up the road – plenty to do and see or just take a wee stroll in the evening.

Really good value for money.

Favourite room ‘Flichity’ which is one of the ‘cottage bedrooms’.

(First visited, 2006).
