Panoramic view of Loch Maree as you approach the village of Kinlochewe from the south – fantastic location for this ‘rural restaurant’ just at the ‘turn off’ to Torridon. Chef/proprietor Rupert Shakespeare has taken over the village hall and operates a very successful food and beverage operation. Carefully sourced produce here – from local and quality suppliers. Hand-dived local scallops and creel-caught langoustines.

Your choice for dinner could be Scottish asparagus, venison fillet and a tasty pudding. The lunch option at a reasonable cost could simply be a filled roll with soup of the day and crusty bread or smoked haddock fillet and poached egg. Dishes are all of a sound quality with clarity of flavours using good fresh ingredients. Simple, uncomplicated dishes – perfectly executed by Rupert and his brigade.

Keep this one in mind when travelling on the Achnasheen-Gairloch scenic route. This comes highly recommended and no doubt will soon be recognised by other food agencies.

Ample car parking area.
