Glengarry Castle commands a stunning position overlooking Loch Oich between Loch Ness and Loch Lochy in this popular area of Scotland.

The ruins of Invergarry Castle, the ancient seat of the McDonnells of Glengarry - which gave shelter to Bonnie Prince Charlie before and after the battle of Culloden stands within sight of the hotel.

A real family castle hotel the MacCallum family have been here since 1958 and are rightly proud of their achievements - so many enjoyable visits/overnight stays over a number of years.

This Victorian building with grand entrance hall has all the ingredients of that bygone era with large reception and public room areas all with views to the garden and loch.

The 26 bedrooms have all the ensuite comforts one would expect, some with four posters.

True highland hospitality here with fresh produce being the key to successful traditional cooking - the old fashioned afternoon teas a daily highlight.

There are a number of activities to enjoy including walks through extensive woodlands, boating on the loch, fishing and making use of the newly surfaced Elastosol tennis court. Perfect stop over for those travelling to Skye or Inverness and beyond.

Your hosts - Donald and Robert MacCallum.

(First visited, 1992).
